5 Heart-Filled Valentine’s Activities for Toddlers in Beckley, WV
With February just around the corner, I’ve been looking through our favorite memories at A Childcare Like Home to get inspired! Last year, our toddlers had a blast with these 'heart-filled' activities, and I wanted to share them today to give you some early Valentine's Day inspiration. From our home in Beckley, WV to yours, here are 5 easy ways to celebrate love and learning this coming month!"
Whether you are a parent looking for home ideas or a fellow provider, these are sure to bring a smile to your little ones' face.
1.Fork-Painted Hearts (Process Art) 
Who knew a kitchen utensil could be an art tool? We skipped the brushes and used plastic forks to create "textured" hearts.
The Goal: Hand-eye coordination and exploring new textures.
Why we love it: It’s a great way for toddlers to see how different tools make different marks on paper.
2. Valentine Sensory Bottles 
Our "Love Bottles" are a daycare favorite! We filled them with glitter, water, and heart-shaped sequins.
The Goal: Visual tracking and a calming "quiet time" tool.
Why we love it: They are mess-free! Even our youngest infants can shake them and watch the hearts dance.
3. Shaving Cream Heart Marbling 
This was our messiest—and most popular—activity. We swirled red and pink paint into shaving cream and "pressed" our paper hearts into the clouds.
The Goal: Sensory exploration and color mixing.
Why we love it: Every heart comes out completely unique, just like our kids!
4. Heart Collage & Fine Motor Fun 
We practiced our "pincer grasp" by picking up small bits of tissue paper and sequins to create a giant heart collage.
The Goal: Strengthening those small hand muscles needed for writing later on.
5. Custom Valentine Bags 
To wrap up our celebration, I created custom Valentine bags for each child. At A Childcare Like Home, making sure every child feels seen and special is at the heart of what I do.
